Jan Mrzyk was born on 4 April 1899 in Międzyrzecze Dolne in the municipality of Jasienica, Bielski district. He was the son of Jan and Stanisława Mrzyk who lived in Międzyrzecze Dolne. He went on to become a farmer. Jan Mrzyk was arrested by the Gestapo on 9 March 1943 in Bielsko and taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp. After around a month, he was deported to the Mauthausen/Gusen concentration camp, where he was registered in the camp files with the prisoner number 12445. He died at 4.40am on 14 November 1943 in Gusen. The cause of death was noted as ‘general physical deterioration’ and ‘myocardial insufficiency’.
